Fort Abbas
 was formerly known as Pholra. In 1927, Nawab Sir Sadiq changed this name and named it upon the name of his elder son, Muhammad Abbas, so the ancient town Pholra became Fort Abbas.

Fort Abbas is an historic city of Bahawalnagar District in the Punjab Province of Pakistan. This city is situated on the border and the language of this city is Punjabi.


Fort Abbas is the largest Tehsil by land area and is one of the five tehisils of Bahawal Nagar district. It is connected with other parts of country through road, railway track. One side is connected with Pakistan Indian border. Modern communication by way of internet, telephone, and mobile phone are also available.

Recently, there has been a very good improvement in the education sector especially for the students who want to become doctors or engineers.

It has forest, desert and agricultural land. The land of Fort Abbas is very fertile but there is a shortage of Water Canals. Hacra Canal is main Canal which provides most of the water to the area. A lot of fertile land is uninhabited due to lack of water. There is a need of widen the canal to avail the water in desired capacity. Major crops are wheat, cotton and sugar cane.
